Our Mission
Enhance Missoula’s vibrant neighborhoods by promoting aging in place with dignity, independence, and engagement through a trusted network of social connections, services, and community-driven resource exchange.
Missoula Villages is a low-cost, community-based program to help older adults remain at home and connected in our community. Background-checked members and volunteers of all ages share time and talents to each other—creating a network of care, friendship, and mutual respect. Whether it’s helping with errands, sharing a meal, or simply spending time together, Missoula Villages is about building relationships and strengthening community ties. Membership in the Missoula Villages network provides an economical way to assure help with necessary tasks while broadening your social network. As more neighbors join, we’ll form local Village groups aligned with Missoula Neighborhood Council boundaries.
Who Can Join?
- Older Missoulians who want to stay independent and connected
- Volunteers of all ages who have skills they can share to make a difference
Our Guiding Principle
Sharing abilities through intergenerational connection. We believe everyone has something valuable to offer. By connecting generations, we create stronger, more resilient neighborhoods.
Together, We Thrive
Join us in creating a Missoula where aging in place is supported by friendship, community, and care.
STAY IN YOUR HOME: We love our homes. Missoula Villages helps you stay there. Missoula is a wonderful place to retire and age with grace. The goal is to make it even better, by helping each other live and age safely and comfortably at home.
WE ARE NEIGHBORS HELPING NEIGHBORS: Sharing abilities through intergenerational connections. Missoula Villages utilizes individual skills across generations as a means of fostering strong social bonds and community engagement. Both older and younger generations benefit from mutual support and shared experiences.
MEMBERSHIP BENEFITS: Missoula Villages is a program to connect members to each other through activities/events and through a volunteer exchange program, with support including transportation, light household help, home safety assessments, lawn care, snow removal, technology support, check-in circles, and more. The network offers services in partnership with Missoula Aging Services and other organizations, and provides lists of recommended service vendors. Click HERE for more details.
AGING AT HOME BUT NOT ALONE! We're looking beyond conventional solutions. We want more freedom and control than we find in models that focus on single issues, such as housing, medical care, or social activities. We want to be active and to take care of ourselves and each other rather than being “taken care of.”
