👩⚕️Caregiver Support: You can be a friend and support for an older person in your community. Caring Companions are Missoula Aging Services volunteers who make regular visits to older adults in the Missoula area and help with daily living tasks and provide social connections. Often, this is giving a full time caretaker a couple of hours off. Activities may include helping with simple tasks in the home, assisting with shopping and appointments, going for walks or out to lunch, visiting or playing games together. 🥳Event Organizer/Staffer: Missoula Villages offers social events for members or organizes trips to community events. We are always looking for additional help to plan, organize and run events.
🚚Dump and Compost Runs: If you own a seldom used trailer that could be filled with bulk trash for a dump run, or compostable materials (branches, grass, etc) that could be taken to the Missoula Compost site, this would be a great volunteer project for you. You can wait until your trailer is full from several pick-ups from Missoula Villages members, then take the load to the dump or compost site. Depending on the dump or compost fees, Village members would pay an appropriate fee for their waste to cover the dump/compose site fees. Timing is flexible for Volunteer Drivers and mileage reimbursement is available.
👬Friendly Visit: You can be a friend and support for an older person in your community. Friendly visits are Missoula Villages volunteers who make regular visits to older adults in the Missoula area mainly for social visits, but you might also help with daily living tasks. Activities may include helping with simple tasks in the home, assisting with shopping and appointments, going for walks or out to lunch, visiting or playing games together. The level that you give is up to you. This volunteer level requires a background check which Missoula Villages pays for.
🌺Gardening: You can help Missoula Villages residents in your community remain safely at home by volunteering for garden upkeep tasks. This is not putting in a full garden, but rather occasional maintenance. Activities may include things like trimming hedges, weeding, thinning ans similar gardening/yeard activities. You can also sign up for the Outside Home Maintenance-Clean-up Crew which expands the work on other outdoor maintenance activities such as cleaning rain gutters, raking leaves and needles, etc.
🚙Grocery/Meal Delivery: This service is for individuals who may need short-term meal help such as Missoula Villages members who have had a short-term disability such as recovering from an illness or medical procedure and may ne some groceries picked up or a meal delivered. See Transportation Assistance later in this list.
🧹Handy-Person-Simple Indoor Maintenance: If you have handyman skills for simple tasks such as changing light bulbs, replacing furnace filters, replacing batteries in smoke and CO detectors or even a background in plumping or electrical services, you can provide a great resource for Village members. This volunteer level requires a background check which Missoula Villages pays for.
🍃Leaf Raking and Lawn Care-Clean-up Crew: You can help Missoula Villages residents in your community remain safely at home by volunteering for yard and home upkeep tasks. Missoula Villages connects volunteers with Village members in the Missoula area who need help with physical yard and outdoor tasks. Activities may include things like trimming hedges, cleaning rain gutters, raking leaves and needles, etc.
🏠Organizing: Sometimes our Missoula Villages members need some help organizing in the home or garage. If you are good at this and like helping and meeting other members you will find this enjoyable. Help might be needed organizing a cabinet, getting ready for a garage sale, getting junk out of the garage. It is your choice on how much help you feel you can give. his volunteer level requires a background check which Missoula Villages pays for.
📲Phone Calling: Missoula Villages may occasionally need help with phone calling. We don't anticipate a large need in this area, but if you are willing to help when the need arises, we would appreciate having your support.
📲Friendly Check-in Caller: We have Villages members who would like to receive a daily call to check in and ensure that everything is going well. Friendly callers also offer a chance to chat and provide more social interaction for members who live alone. This is a great volunteer activity that you can do from home spending only a few minutes every day.

🥣Short-Term Meals: If you would like to be a part of our meal-train program to help provide meals for a Missoula Villages member who has a short-term disability such as recovering from an illness or medical procedure please join us. Volunteers are needed to both organize the meal-train through our list of volunteers in this category, or to prepare and deliver a meal. This volunteer level requires a background check which Missoula Villages pays for.
❄️Snow Shoveling or Blowing: You can help Missoula Villages residents in your community remain safely at home by volunteering to help clear winter snow. Sometimes the Village member needing help will have a snowblower, but if you own one you are willing to use and can transport your assistance would be greatly appreciated. Most jobs only require a shovel to clear a sidewalk and/or front walkway.
💻Tech-Computer Wiz-MAC: If you are a skilled or competent user of Apple computers and can help teach seniors how to do basic skills and help them set up their computers they would greatly appreciate your help. This volunteer level requires a background check which Missoula Villages pays for.
💻Tech-Computer Wiz-PC: If you are a skilled or competent user of PC computers and can help teach seniors how to do basic skills and help them set up their computers they would greatly appreciate your help. This volunteer level requires a background check which Missoula Villages pays for.
📱Tech-Phone/Tablet Wiz-Apple: If you are a skilled or competent user of I Phones or I Pads and can help teach seniors how to do basic skills and help them set up their devices they would greatly appreciate your help. This volunteer level requires a background check which Missoula Villages pays for.
📱Tech-Phone/Tablet Wiz-Android: If you are a skilled or competent user of Android Phones or Pads and can help teach seniors how to do basic skills and help them set up their devices they would greatly appreciate your help. This volunteer level requires a background check which Missoula Villages pays for.
📶Tech-Home Internet-WiFi Wiz: If you have skills in setting up home WIFI and can help our members set up, reset and learn to use their WIFI they would greatly appreciate your help. This volunteer level requires a background check which Missoula Villages pays for.
🚙Transportation Assistance: This is our greatest need for volunteers! There are two levels of drivers needed.
- Help Village members get to critical medical appointments for which timing is critical, and
- Provided necessary transportation to Village members who cannot drive, but may need to go shopping, visit friends or other activity for which the scheduling is non-critical.
If you sign-up to help with transportation, you will receive noties of both needs, and can choose which Village members you are able to help.
Applicants must be at least 19 years old with a valid drivers license and no moving violations within the past 3 years. Timing is flexible for volunteer drivers and mileage reimbursement is available. This volunteer level requires a background check which Missoula Villages pays for.
