I'm a volunteer. How to I know when help is needed and how do I log my work?
Once you have signed up as a volunteer and checked the boxes of those areas in which you would like to help there will be a short period of time for Missoula Aging Services to complete a background check (we cover the cost) and you will be invited to attend one of our training sessions. Once this is all completed you will join all of the other volunteers in each of the service categories you signed up for.
When a Missoula Villages members submits a service request in one of your volunteer categories, you and all of the other potential volunteers in that category will receive an email with the request specifics. These emails are sent out at 10:00AM each day. You can click on any requests that you feel you might be able to fullfill and will get details of location, etc. If you are available and would like to fulfill the request you will have a link and can then accept the volunteer activity.
Once you accept fullfilling the request you will get the details including the member's phone number. You will need to call them and set up the details for completing the service. If they don't answer, which happens often as your number is probably not listed in their phone, please leave a message with your phone number. The requester will have also received an email that you accepted their request and they should also have your phone number.
Once you have completed the service and the planned date is past, you will receive a request to evaluate the service.
We also ask that you log your hours after each session by going to the "Volunteers" tab and selecting "Reporting Hours." Reporting your hours is valuable for the Missoula Village as we can use your volunteer hours as matches for grants.
Thanks
